try The Real thing

join mile building Sailing

Our mile building sailing trips will allow you to gain lots of sailing experience in a very short amount of time. You will join a few other sailors and an experienced skipper on a long distance, offshore sailing trip. Night sailing is naturally included. Usually these trips are one-way, giving you a chance to do a real long passage.

You will be expected to take shifts and be on the watch, so you can alert the skipper, if the boat may be on collision course or if the wind changes. If you are more experienced with sailing, you can make course corrections or sail adjustments if need be. Passage planning, living on board while underway, forecast reading, strategic sailing decisions, etc… are all things which you can expect to learn and be guided through.

As part of the team you will also take part in meals preparation, boat care and general merry-making. We are in this boat together!

 what will you sail on ?

On our offshore sailing trips, we sail on a sailboat Dufour Classic 43. She has circumnavigated the world.
Now she is back in the Mediterranean sea.
Come aboard!

Expedition Sailboat

This is a sailboat that has seen it all. Super well equipped for many weeks offshore. Solar panels, strong batteries, water maker, satellite communications and additional sails (light wind) increase the pleasure as well as the autonomy of sailing.

Boat Layout

We have 4 double cabins, two bathrooms with showers, an outside shower at the swim platform, a saloon with fridge, cooking place and all the standard equipment on a sailboat.

one Crew

7 people and the skipper fit onto that sailboat. One crew makes it easy to coordinate the daily schedule, allows great relationships to form, and go your own crew’s pace throughout the sailing week.

Mile Building sailing trip highlights

Small Group

You will learn quickly as there is a lot of time to do things by yourself. A small group facilitates the learning process. Exchange experiences, see how others do things, get time to ask anything you want.

Sunrises and Sunsets

You will have at least one shift at daybreak and/or nightfall. Enjoy the calmness, the peace, the serenity and simply, the magic of the moment.

Mile Builder

Take watches, take responsibility, learn from an experienced skipper: passage planning, living underway, tips and tricks for offshore cruising.

30 March ’24 (14h00) -> 06 April ’24 (09h00)
300NM / Week
390€ pp

Starting from Suez, we shall go through one of the most impressive human constructions: the Suez Canal. Once through, we take the course north and sail towards Cyprus. As soon as we get there, we will have time to coast-hop and relax, savoring the achievement we just made. We suggest to come a few days early to enjoy Cairo, the Pyramids, the Sphinx, etc…

Suez Canal

Cyprus – Crete

11 May ’24 (14h00) -> 18 May ’24 (09h00)
350NM / Week
782€ pp

Join us for an offshore adventure. We will take a detour from Cyprus sailing up to Kastellorizon. This is the most Eastern Greek outpost, just at the Turkish coast. It is non-touristy and beautiful. From there, we will head to southern Rhodes for a stopover at the world-famous watersports beach Prasonisi for some swimming and relaxing. Further south, we will visit Karpathos Island, another non-touristy authentic Greek island, seldom visited by yachts. The end of this route is in Heraklion, which offers plenty of connections to everywhere in Europe.

Split – Corfu

24 Aug. ’24 (14h00) -> 31 Aug. ’24 (09h00)
300NM / Week
810€ pp

At the end of summer, we are setting sail on an Adriatic passage. Leaving Croatia, we will drop anchor in front of Hvar to visit this beautiful town. Sailing further south, we spend a night at a remote anchorage at Lastovo. This island was once a pirate base and is one of the least developed islands in Croatia. After Lastovo, we take a big leap south and if the winds are favorable, we stop at the tip of the shoe of Italy for a pizza (and gelato, of course). From there, we are just a day sail away from Corfu.
